Send a Letter to Support Betty Rosa for Chancellor of the Board of Regents

Test refusal has been an effective tactic in the battle to challenge damaging state and city education policies, but another means of effecting change is changing leadership. Merryl Tisch, longtime head of the state’s Board of Regents and co-architect and champion of many questionable ‘reforms,’ is stepping down.

Seize this too-rare opportunity to raise your voice for leadership change--it may not come around again for a long time; Tisch became Chancellor in 2009 and served on the Board for 20 years!

Among those hoping to assume the role of Chancellor is current Regent Betty Rosa, a seasoned and principled educator from the Bronx. The Regents select the new Chancellor from among their own, so it is important to contact them to urge them to support Rosa's candidacy. In addition, State Assembly members appoint Regents, so contacting legislators is also worthwhile. (In addition to the Speaker and Education Committee chairs, this letter is addressed to those Regents identified as likely swing voters and their affiliated Assembly Members. Should you wish to contact your own Assembly Person or Regent in addition, you can contact them separately.)
