Send a message to Mayor Whitmire and Houston City Council to NOT REPEAL Prop A - Immigration Ordinance Procedures

URGENT: Governor Abbott is punishing Houstonians, Mayor Whitmire, and Houston City Council for clarifying our Constitutional rights!

On Monday, April 13th, 2026, Governor Abbott issued a memo to Mayor Whitmire stating that the new Prop A - Immigration Procedures Ordinance passed on April 8th, 2026 was in breach of a grant agreement between the Public Safety Office of the Office of the Governor (PSO) and the City.

The PSO is threatening to pull roughly 110 million dollars in funding from the City of Houston and is demanding that the City repeal and not enforce this ordinance. If the City decides to implement this ordinance, the PSO will require the City to pay back the 110 million dollars in funding received by the PSO.

These funds are crucial to public safety programs.

This ordinance is legally sound and reaffirms our Houston community members protections under the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

We must not stand for the Governor’s intimidation and our Fourth Amendment rights.

Repealing the ordinance under these circumstances would set a troubling precedent. Standing firm would demonstrate the City’s commitment to both the rule of law and the community it serves.

WE MUST TAKE ACTION NOW. HERE IS WHAT YOU CAN DO:

Send an email letter to Mayor Whitmire and Houston City Council NOW, telling them to vote NO to a repeal or amendment to the Immigration Procedures Ordinance on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

Come to Houston City Hall on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 2pm CT for a rally in support of the Immigration Procedures Ordinance.

The state and federal government are trying to stomp all over our Fourth Amendment rights, and we cannot let them do that.
