Demand Fair Maps Now

Ohioans deserve a transparent, fair redistricting process. The state legislature has until September 30 to pass a new congressional map with bipartisan support, but leaders of the committee still haven’t released their proposed map or made clear how the public can weigh in before the deadline.

If they are serious about holding a fair process, they should introduce their proposed map now and give the public an opportunity to testify before the deadline. Otherwise, the only conclusion is that legislative leaders intend to run out the clock, blow past the deadline, and ram through a partisan gerrymander in November.
