Sign and send a short, pre-written letter to your Republican member of the House of Representatives: Vote "NO" on cutting foreign aid and funding for PBS and NPR.

The Trump administration has sent what is known as a "rescission package" to Congress, requesting that $9.4 billion in spending that Congress previously approved be rescinded. The spending that the White House wants to cut consists of foreign aid ($8.3 billion), as well as PBS and NPR ($1.1 billion).

While Republicans narrowly control both the House and the Senate, and while a rescission package cannot be filibustered in the Senate, it is by no means guaranteed that this rescission package will pass either chamber. Numerous Republicans have voiced concerns about the bill, ranging from worries about the impact that cutting public broadcasting would have on rural districts, skepticism over cutting funding to fight AIDS, and opposition to undermining congressional authority over federal spending. Since no Democrats are likely to vote for this rescission package, Republicans can only afford three defections and still pass the bill.

If you have a Republican member of the House of Representatives, this form allows you to send them a short, pre-written letter letting them know that you oppose the rescission package sent to Congress by the White House, and that you would like them to vote "NO."

Please, sign and send a short, pre-written letter to your Republican member of the House of Representatives: Vote "NO" on the rescission package the White House has sent to Congress.
