Stop Burdening NCSU Grad Students with Student Fees

  • We demand that North Carolina State University to cover the student fees as part of the measures to improve quality of life for the grad students

  • Currently, the student fees are approximately $1300 per semester, and includes many services that grad students generally do not utilize

  • As our fees (and stipends) remain the same, the cost of living in Raleigh is rising, making it more difficult for students to live near campus with the current stipend.

  • The grad student fees exceeds 10% of the grad student stipends for many departments

  • In 2022, NC State University chancellor Randy Woodson made $2.3 million last year, including $1.7 million in performance bonuses, with UNC Charlotte’s Sharon Gaber the next highest paid chancellor with just under $700,000.

  • University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, under the same UNC system rules, does require that all fees be covered for graduate workers on assistantships.
