STAND UP FOR THE CITY OF TORONTO ACT!

There is a plan to amend the City of Toronto Act and Remove the TTC as the exclusive authority for transit in the City of the Toronto.

Changing the City of Toronto Act will have the following negative impacts:

1. Reduce service standards within the City of Toronto by allow other transit agencies from outside the City to perform work;

2. Destroy the exclusive authority of the TTC to provide work;

3. General revenue raise inside the City of Toronto will be spent on resources outside the City of Toronto. The TTC is already unfunded enough;

4. Passengers will have their normal transit stops ripped out of the ground and cause confusion and harm ridership;

5. It will led to private contractors providing mass transit in the City of Toronto for the first time since before the 1920s;

The TTC Board and the City of Toronto are setting up the Government of Ontario to amend the City of Toronto Act.

The City of Toronto Act establishes the TTC as the exclusive authority to provide transit service within the City of Toronto.These municipal powers are sacrosanct and should not be amended to allow for other transit agencies to provide transit services within our city.

One seamless transit agency is what allows passengers to go from bus to streetcar to subway for a single fare.
