Stand with Co-signers of H.Res. 4391 "the Promoting Human Rights by Ending Israeli Military Detention of Palestinian Children Act "

On November 14th, Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN) introduced a bill titled "Promoting Human Rights by Ending Israeli Military Detention of Palestinian Children." This is an extremely bold and important piece of legislation, which aims to prevent U.S. aid and taxpayer dollars from being used by the Israeli Army to fund the detention, interrogation, ill-treatment, and imprisonment of Palestinian children in its separate-and-unequal military courts.

The language of this bill asks the U.S. Secretary of State to certify that none of the more than $3 billion per year that the U.S. sends in military aid to Israel is used to fund abuse of Palestinian children. Israel ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1991, which states that children must not be detained for long periods of time, must be made aware of their rights, must not be tortured, and must not be made to sign confessions that they do not understand.

So far, 20 members of Congress have signed on! While, theoretically, this should be non-controversial, the co-signers been receiving backlash for their support of this legislation. If your Rep. has signed on, you'll be directed to an email template you can use to let them know that you've got their back, and that you appreciate their commitment to justice! If your Rep. hasn't signed on, you'll be directed to an email template to urge them to take a stand and oppose the Israeli Army's inhumane treatment of children.
