Standing Up for Ontario’s Aluminum Jobs and Industry - Take Action Now!
The IAM Union, previously know as the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, representing thousands of manufacturing workers across Ontario, is urging the government to take immediate action to protect Ontario’s aluminum industry. U.S. tariffs on Canadian-finished aluminum goods and the flood of cheap offshore imports are creating an uneven playing field—threatening good jobs, local communities, and our province’s economic self-reliance.
We are calling on the government to:
- Pressure the federal government to secure the removal of U.S.-bound tariffs on Canadian-finished aluminum goods;
- Advocate for fair tariffs on offshore imports to protect Ontario producers; and
- Provide targeted provincial supports, such as wage subsidies, to maintain employment and skills in the sector.
Ontario’s aluminum industry is vital to our economy and workers, and now is the time to act to secure its future.
