In 2025, several lobbying firms in California represented chemical and other industrial clients trying to block SB 682, which will ban PFAS in some consumer products, while at the same time lobbying for water districts and agencies that support SB 454, which will create a PFAS clean-up fund. This double-dealing means lobbyists are profiting from pollution — and from the cleanup.

PFAS exposure is linked to cancer, reproductive harm, miscarriages, and immune disorders. These chemicals do not break down in our bodies or in the environment. Families — especially children and pregnant people — are being put at risk.

Lobbyists playing both sides of climate and health issues, especially one as serious as PFAS, must be held accountable.
