What happened:
Yesterday, January 9, 2025, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) simply for investigating alleged Israeli war crimes.
The International Criminal Court plays a vital role in holding war criminals accountable, regardless of their nationality or political power. Its mission is to ensure justice for victims of the most heinous crimes imaginable, including war crimes and crimes against humanity.
By supporting sanctions against ICC officials, Congress has sent a dangerous message: Israel can act with impunity and evade accountability.
This vote undermines the global system of justice, weakening the very institutions designed to prevent atrocities and bring perpetrators to trial. If we let this stand, we risk sending the message that those in power can escape justice — a precedent that could embolden war criminals worldwide.

It’s critical we show our representatives now that we are watching, and let them know we will not tolerate special exceptions for war criminals.
