Stop the Arctic Budget Disaster
The House of Representatives is working on its “big beautiful” (if you’re a polluter) bill, and there’s plenty to make your blood boil – starting with cuts to Medicaid and other vital services.
But along with the headline-grabbing cuts are sneakier things – like a plan to drill the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for oil and gas. Speak up!
Trump and his MAGA minions in Congress are advancing a budget bill that eliminates key environmental protections and mandates oil and gas leasing, including in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge that climate hawks have long fought to protect. But we know the truth: this is all just an excuse to justify more tax breaks for billionaires and corporations. This unacceptable attack on our public lands will harm Tribes, local communities, the climate, and the economy.
The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is home to iconic wildlife from endangered beluga whales and polar bears to migratory birds, bears, and caribou. And it's a globally-renowned region that sustains the Gwich’in and Iñupiaq people.
Oil and gas exploration in the Arctic will raise harmful, climate-warming pollution, destroy wildlife habitat, and threaten the health and human rights of the Indigenous Peoples who oppose development in their homelands.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Use this page to start a letter to your member of the House, and both your Senators, telling them that Arctic drilling is a dirty bad deal that has no place in the budget!
