REJECT The Recycled Materials Attribution Act

A troubling new bill backed by the petrochemical and packaging industry has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. Ostensibly, The Recycled Materials Attribution Act (HR 7502 - Rep. Langworth (R-NY)) is meant to establish federal standards for recycled content claims and modernize recycling regulations in the U.S. In reality, this bill is an industry wish list that’s sponsored by the recently formed "Recycling Leadership Council" which includes the American Chemistry Council, The Plastics Industry Association and the Vinyl Institute, the plastics industry’s main lobbying entities.

Please urge your Representative to reject this bill in order to preserve states’ rights to prevent false recycling claims, continue to regulate polluting “chemical” or “advanced” recycling as incineration, and avoid loopholes that lead to even more false information.
