STOP THE STUDY! NO MORE DELAYS! TIME TO ACT: Tell CA Senators to Vote NO on SB437 and SB518!

What's Going On: 2 bad bills are headed for a vote in the CA Senate Education Committee and CA Senate Governmental Organization Committee.

Bad Bill #1, SB437, would WASTE millions of taxpayer dollars on an unnecessary study of genealogy, with no start date and no end date to the study/research. To make matters worse, the study would be conducted by unnamed academics and unaccountable non-profit organizations! California's Reparations Task Force, which already spent 2 years researching and studying issues including genealogy, made it clear: We don't need to STUDY genealogy, we need to DO genealogy!

The language for the bill was LITERALLY written (in part) by the Governor's office in the final hours of the 2024 legislation year AND was REJECTED by the grassroots community and the public back then.

Bad Bill #2, SB518, would further delay much needed state action in support of people emancipated from Chattel Slavery in the U.S. by creating a new state Bureau that can't do any work until that study (in SB437) is "completed".

Meanwhile, California taxpayers will have to fund BOTH the Bureau that can't do any work AND the indefinite study/research.

Contact the CA Senate NOW! Tell them: VOTE NO on SB437 and SB518!
Then PULL UP IN PERSON to the hearings for public comment let your voice be HEARD!
