On December 23rd, without the approval of the current municipal council, Mayor Kevin Ashe of Pickering requested an MZO from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to allow extensive commercial and residential development in the headwaters of Carruthers Creek.

The headwaters of Carruthers Creek are vital for Durham Region for a number of reasons including serving as valuable farmland, preventing flooding (especially in Ajax) and as habitat for plants and animals.

Please sign this letter asking Mayor Ashe to rescind his unilateral Christmas MZO request and pursue a more democratic discussion of development in Durham Region.
