The headline says it all:

That’s right, Trump just pledged $10 billion in taxpayer money to bankroll his so-called “Board of Peace.” Not surprisingly, he didn’t say where that money would come from and that’s probably because Congress hasn’t allocated the money for it.

And let’s be clear here: Trump has made himself king of the board. He and he alone has veto power over everything the board does and maintains direct control over how the money is distributed.

If Congress unlocks the funds, Trump would control the flow. Billions of public dollars would move according to his direction.

Millions of Americans are struggling to survive under the cost of healthcare after billions were cut from subsidies that helped working families afford the coverage they need. Yet, Donald Trump wants a $10 billion slush fund to spend anyway he wants.

There are literally no limits in place on how he could spend money given to the board, because he’s made himself the sole decider on everything it does. He could build a Trump tower in Gaza. He might buy the rights to put his name on a pyramid. We don’t know what he’ll spend it on, but you can be 100% sure he’ll profit from whatever it is.

Congress holds the constitutional responsibility to control federal spending. Lawmakers cannot authorize billions and billions of taxpayer money to fund Trump’s latest grift.
