Stop Warrantless Surveillance - No More Flock Cameras in Mountain View!
On February 2nd Flock Safety was caught sharing the data of Mountain View residents without authorization. Write a letter to the City Council to cancel the contract permanently on Feb 24!
Flock Safety markets itself as a security company, but in reality it operates as a private data broker. Their business model is simple: use city-owned infrastructure to monitor everyone like criminals, then monetize their personal data (often without the host city's knowledge or consent). Worse still, their unregulated private surveillance network is so poorly secured that independent researchers have demonstrated it can be compromised in minutes.
There is no "safe" way to implement a system designed to spy on the public for profit. We cannot allow a private company to auction off our data while claiming to protect us.
The City Council decides the future of this contract on Tuesday, February 24. We are demanding the immediate, permanent termination of the Flock program and a complete rejection of surveillance-for-profit in our city. Send a letter now to demand they kill the contract, then join us to make your voice heard!
