Strengthening the U.S.-Türkiye Alliance for Global Security

Flags

Turkish Americans and U.S. citizens are increasingly concerned by a growing narrative that frames Türkiye as “the next Iran.” This characterization is not only inaccurate, but it risks undermining U.S. strategic interests at a time of global uncertainty.

Türkiye has been a steadfast ally of the United States and a committed member of NATO since 1952. It maintains the second-largest military in the alliance and continues to play a critical role in regional and global security. From the Cold War to today’s challenges across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond, cooperation with Türkiye has been essential to transatlantic stability.

Reducing a key ally to misleading comparisons weakens diplomatic trust, complicates defense coordination, and risks damaging a partnership that has served U.S. interests for decades.

We respectfully urge you to:

  • Recognize and reaffirm Türkiye’s role as a vital NATO ally
  • Promote balanced, fact-based discussions in policy and public discourse
  • Support continued diplomatic, economic, and security cooperation between the United States and Türkiye

At a time when strong alliances matter more than ever, preserving and strengthening the U.S.–Türkiye relationship is not optional—it is strategic.
