As our communities here in South Florida and Florida International University (FIU) are being targeted by the cruel and violent mass deportation policies of the Trump Administration, our university is now complicit in Trump's cruel policies by FIU's Police Department decision to signed the 287g agreement with ICE. This agreement will deputize FIUPD to be immigration agents on campus and be a threat to our students and faculty. The Young Democratic Socialist of America at FIU believe that our campus must be a safe and free place for all our students, faculty and staff to learn and work. That is why we are launching a campaign to demand that FIU becomes a Sanctuary Campus that would: END the 287g agreement with ICE, demand that our university does NOT COMPLY with immigration enforcement, and protect the academic and political freedoms of students and faculty alike.
