The Trump Administration is proposing to gut longstanding protections for National Forest Inventoried Roadless Areas and open up these essential wild places to logging and roadbuilding. The US Forest Service's plan to rescind the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule (or Roadless Rule) threatens 260,000 acres of the White and Green Mountain National Forests, including many of the most iconic landscapes in New England, from New Hampshire's Presidential Range, Mt Chocorua, and Franconia Ridge (pictured here), to Vermont's White Rocks. Submit your comment today (the final deadline is 11:59pm on Thursday, September 21st) to tell the Trump Administration to cancel this wrong-headed plan, and to ask members of Congress to permanently protect Roadless Areas via the Roadless Area Conservation Act.
