Support 2800 N Sheridan Development
355 new homes could be coming to Lakeview! But we need your support to fight back against those who want to prioritize views over affordable, abundant homes.
At the corner of Sheridan and Diversey, developers proposed a plan to replace an underutilized medical office building and parking lot with a 355-unit residential development with retail space on the first two floors. According to YIMBY Chicago, 60 units would be considered affordable.
This location is prime real estate for dense transit-oriented development because it would be within easy access to the Sheridan, Diversey, and Inner Lake Shore Drive buses as well as the Diversey Brown and Purple Line Station. Given that, we are also encouraging the developers to reduce their current proposal for 152 parking spots. This will also address concerns from neighbors about increased congestion because less parking means residents will be less likely to drive and contribute to traffic.
At a time when Lakeview residents are feeling the squeeze of a housing shortage and rising rents, this project would help alleviate the housing crisis as well as bring new stores and amenities to a busy intersection.
