Support 50 new homes in Irving Park!

Background:
Fifty new homes are proposed at 3819 N Kedzie in the Irving Park neighborhood. The project would replace a single-story commercial building that has sat mostly empty for many years. Unfortunately, a small but powerful set of opponents are making a concerted effort to organize against this important project due to the usual concerns about traffic and density.
Abundant Housing Illinois supports the project for the following reasons:
- Cleans up an environmental brownfield site at no cost to our cash-strapped city
- Includes 10 affordable units, more than doubling the number of ARO units in Irving Park
- Includes a large number of two- and three-bedroom units for families
- Increases property tax revenue, something the recent budget fights highlight is crucial
- Creates new housing options in a high-demand neighborhood (93.4% occupancy rate)
- Leverages all-electric construction (e.g., heat pumps and induction stoves), reducing emissions and improving indoor air quality for residents, in line with the Chicago Climate Action Plan
- The project plans to leverage bird-friendly design elements
Please use our letter campaign to tell Alderwoman Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez that you support the project. Additionally, we encourage 33rd and 35th Ward residents to submit the Community Driven Zoning feedback form for this project.
Find more details about the proposed project on the 33rd Ward's website.
