Support a Green Bank in San Francisco
San Francisco is facing a massive affordability crisis.
The private market is not building nearly enough housing that San Franciscans can actually afford. A publicly-owned, green bank would allow for democratic control over city finances, keeping our money in our streets, not Wall Street. Low-interest loans could be provided to build to meet the needs of city, rather than to build to maximize profit.
A 2024 report from the city showed that European-style social housing can be built in San Francisco—but only with low-interest financing provided by a public bank.
