Manufactured housing homeowners are property owners whose equity depends on regulated land tenancy.
Renters of apartments, condos and traditional homes already have rent protection, but its rate is too high for MHCs who also pay a mortgage, utilities, home insurance, property taxes, upkeep and maintenance. While other renters can move if their rent increases are too high, MHC homeowners cannot. Our homes are not mobile, costing tens of thousands of dollars to move. MHC homeowners are vulnerable to high rent increases, causing us to walk away from our investment and equity. Should we really want be treating veterans, seniors on fixed incomes, people with disabilities and families of all income levels with this unfair treatment?
