Support Comprehensive Cannabis Legislation - Senate Bill 1045
Legislative Democrats introduced LRB 4219 (now Senate Bill 1045), a bill aimed to regulated recreational marijuana, medical cannabis and intoxicating hemp products.
Wisconsin is at a turning point. A regulated system for adult-use marijuana, medical cannabis, and intoxicating hemp products means safety standards, consumer protections, small business opportunity, and tax revenue staying here instead of flowing to other states. Doing nothing keeps the market unregulated and leaves patients, retailers, and consumers in legal gray areas. Lawmakers need to hear that voters want a modern, responsible framework. Contact your representatives, share your support publicly, and make it clear: Wisconsin deserves safe access, clear rules, and an industry that works in the open — not in the shadows.
The 2026 cannabis legalization proposal (Wisconsin Senate Bill 1045) launched with overwhelming Democratic support. In the Senate, 14 out of 15 Democratic Senators signed on as co-sponsors.
In the Assembly, the support was also strong: 33 of 44 Democratic Representatives co-sponsored the legislation. That level of party unity signals that legalization is no longer a fringe issue inside the Democratic caucus — it’s mainstream policy.
