Support Continuation of Successful Texas Clean Air Program

The Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP) is the state's flagship program for lowering ozone emissions and helping metropolitan areas come into compliance with the federal Clean Air Act. TERP provides eligible individuals, businesses or local governments financial incentives to help repair or replace polluting vehicles and equipment. New or upgraded cars, trucks and fleet equipment pollute less, and in turn improve air quality.

The Environmental Protection Agency has tightened its national ozone standards, meaning the state will need every available tool, including TERP, to pursue these updated clean air goals.

Senate Bill 1046, which deals with the funding for TERP is up for a Senate floor vote.  SB 1046 continues TERP funding and eliminates complicated and unnecessary money transfers between different accounts.

Tell your Texas State Senator to support SB 1046 as written and to oppose amendments that would divert funding from this important program.
