The RTA has made a commitment to its membership and the broader community to practice what we preach. That is, we want to uphold the values of transparency and democracy in all of our activities. To that end, we want to maintain our more open approach to bargaining by continuing to invite RTA members to join as silent representatives. This school committee and administration (for obvious reasons) do not like that we are engaging in this way. Despite the fact that the RTA is well within our rights to demand silent representatives in negotiations, we are being prevented from doing so.

Please let the school committee know that RTA members are committed to this approach and they need to respect our rights as a union.
