I am a CSEA member and a direct care worker. The proposed New York State budget includes a 1.5% COLA for human service workers at not-for-profits. This amount is too low for those of us who provide this important work. The cost of living has increased dramatically, especially for those of us who work and live in New York City. Caring for people with special needs is very difficult and we deserve to be compensated fairly. Please advocate for a higher COLA and ensure that it goes to the direct care employees.
