Support HB 331 and SB 1492 to Protect Parental Rights and Public Health

Florida students are currently being denied medically accurate health education because the Department of Education has refused to approve district-submitted materials.

HB 331 and SB 1492 fix this by restoring local school board authority over reproductive health and HIV/AIDS instruction, just as Florida law required before HB 1069.

Under the old system, parents could review materials, ask questions in public meetings, and opt their children out. That process was transparent, democratic, and respected families. Today, decisions are being made behind closed doors by unelected state officials, leaving schools unable to teach about consent, contraception, or disease prevention.

These bills return power to local communities, protect parental rights, and ensure students receive accurate, age-appropriate health education.
