American Muslims in Massachusetts face widespread discrimination, bullying, and exclusion from policy conversations that directly impact their lives. Nearly half—48%—of Muslim students reported being bullied due to their faith in the past school year.—and many face harassment from teachers and school staff. Despite these challenges, there is no permanent state commission dedicated to advocating for American Muslims in Massachusetts.

The American Muslim Commission Bill (SD.2386 / HD.4129) will change that by:
Ensuring Muslim voices are heard in government decisions
Addressing bullying and discrimination in schools & workplaces
Identifying and recommending qualified American Muslims for government roles
Promoting the cultural and economic contributions of American Muslims

With increasing attacks on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts at the national level, we must act now to protect the civil rights of American Muslims in Massachusetts.
