Ask county officials to redevelop the Chevy Chase Library with mixed-income housing

Support using public land to maximize public good!

The Chevy Chase Library needs major repairs, and the county can either renovate or redevelop the library with mixed-income housing. The library is located on Connecticut Ave., just an 8-minute walk from a future Purple Line station.

This project is an exciting opportunity for the county to support new affordable housing near transit, services, amenities, and jobs. We're asking county officials: will you commit to using public land to maximize public good?

If not here, Where? And If Not Now, When?

Montgomery County urgently needs more housing—especially more affordable housing. The median home sale price in Chevy Chase exceeds $800,000, and the average rent is $2,409. Chevy Chase has been kept out of reach for people of color through redlining, restrictive covenants, and other public and private policies. We must take intentional steps to reverse this exclusionary history.

Add your voice today and tell the County Executive and County Council to model smart growth for Montgomery County and redevelop the Chevy Chase Library with mixed-income housing.
