Support New Jersey Fire Life Safety Proposed Rule 56 N.J.R. 1279(a)

Fire and smoke dampers, along with smoke control systems are critical in containing fire and smoke within buildings, safeguarding lives by providing safe egress for building occupants and first responders. Regular inspections and maintenance of these systems are essential to ensure they function properly in an emergency. However, the effectiveness of these inspections heavily relies on the competence and certification of the individuals performing them.

Right now, the Murphy Administration is considering rules that would require ICB-certified contractors and workers to conduct inspections and repairs (56 N.J.R. 1279(a)).

This requirement enhances the quality and reliability of the inspections and ensures compliance with industry standards and best practices. Certified professionals bring specialized knowledge and expertise crucial for identifying potential issues and addressing them promptly, thereby minimizing risks associated with fire and smoke hazards.

These measures are essential for the safety and well-being of all residents in New Jersey. Please take a moment to submit a comment in favor of these critical, life-saving regulations.
