Support Oak Grove Union Educators!

Certified Staff at Oak Grove Union School District have been working all school year without a contract. The OGUSD School Board has failed to provide a fair proposal to OGUEEA leading us towards impasse and a potential strike. Our working conditions are students' learning conditions. Amid a worsening national teacher shortage, now more than ever we need to recruit and retain the best educators for Oak Grove and Willowside students! Oak Grove teachers salaries have fallen from the 21st in the county to 27th in one year and the Oak Grove average teacher salary is 9% below the California statewide average.

The budget communicates priorities. Over the last five years, the amount the OGUSD School Board spends on administrators, consulting services, and out-of-district contractors has skyrocketed while the proportion spent on those closest to the students, actual educators in the classroom, has decreased.

The District CAN afford what the educators are demanding, currently OGUSD has more than $2.99 million in reserves, which is 28.63% of its total spending (state law requires them to have 4% in case of economic uncertainty). You can't put students first, if you put educators last. Send a message to the OGUSD Board of Trustees that we as a community support our educators, and demand the District provide them a fair contract.
