Support S. 239 and Honor Christa McAuliffe
As part of the FIRST community, we’re inspired to advocate for wider recognition of our nation’s STEM heroes. Christa McAuliffe, the astronaut and school teacher who was tragically killed in the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster in 1986, exemplifies the importance of space exploration, STEM education, and inspiring young people to become leaders, innovators, and educators.
Please take a moment today and write your Senators asking that they support S. 239, a bill authorizing the Secretary of the Treasury to mint coins in recognition of Christa McAuliffe. The coin would serve as a meaningful tribute to an American school teacher hero and represent our country’s commitment to STEM education.
