Support/Cosponsor the Parole Fairness Modernization Act!

Right now, Illinois has a dual supervision system. People convicted of crimes prior to 1978 are released on parole supervision for the maximum duration of their sentence, which can last decades. People convicted of crimes post-1978 are released on mandatory supervised release (MSR), which caps supervision at 3 years.

The Parole Fairness Modernization Act (HB4303) eliminates this disparity by aligning supervision terms for pre-1978 sentences with the same MSR caps that apply to everyone else in Illinois.

HB4303:
  • Promotes fairness and equal treatment
  • Maintains accountability through defined supervision
  • Reduces unnecessary long-term administrative supervision
  • Impacts a very small population (approximately 34 individuals currently on parole supervision)

Send a letter to your Illinois Rep demanding they support and co-sponsor HB4303!
