SUPPORT WORCESTER EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS

Worcester's public schools have endured decades of underfunding and understaffing. The District and the City have not sufficiently supported our educators and students have not been sufficiently supported. Now, with Worcester Public Schools receiving nearly $100 million more each year in state funding, plus more than $120 million in federal stimulus money for the City of Worcester and Worcester public schools, and the potential for even more funding following passage of the Fair Share Amendment, it is time for Worcester to invest in its students. Despite nearly 16 months of negotiations, Worcester educators continue to work without a contract. Worcester educators are fighting for a new contract that will represent real commitments not just to the educators of Worcester, but also to the students and the families we serve. We are tired of putting Band-Aids on the structural problems with our schools and are demanding that our City pay for the schools that our students and families deserve.
If you agree that it's time for the City of Worcester to fully fund our schools and give our kids the resources they deserve, we ask you to send a letter now to the Worcester School Committee members, City Councilors, and City Manager.
