TABLE Tuesday’s amphitheater vote: Crystal Towers residents deserve a voice in this process

On Tuesday 9/2, Winston-Salem City Council is voting on whether to lease city-owned land to Don Flow and Associates for just $1/month so that they can build a 5,000-seat amphitheater. The proposed amphitheater is directly across the street from Crystal Towers, a public housing development for elderly, low-income residents.

Crystal Towers residents have raised serious concerns about the amphitheater, from noise issues, to safety concerns, to a fear that the development will displace them from their homes. But the truth is that many Crystal Towers residents do not even know about the amphitheater because Don Flow and Associates, the Winston-Salem City Council, and the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership have not bothered to consult them in this process.

As the most directly-impacted community members, Crystal Towers residents deserve a meaningful say in whether this project moves forward. Please email City Council now to ask them to TABLE Tuesday's vote on leasing city-owned land to Don Flow so that Crystal Towers residents can be consulted and their voices heard in this process.
