Take Action: Stop the Australian Christian Lobby hiring public venues in WA.
Write a letter congratulating WA state government on refusing to hire venues to anti-LGBTQIA hate groups like the Australian Christian Lobby.
The Australian Christian Lobby [ACL] have had their application to hire a state-run venue in WA knocked back seemingly due their anti-LGBTQIA+ views. You can read all about it here.
This is a positive move by the state government to not support anti-LGBT+ hate groups from using state resources. However, with a wave of backlash from ACL supporters likely to come in the next few days, now is the time to act and make sure the WA state government does not backtrack on this decision.
Send a letter now congratulating the Premier, the venue, and the Minister for doing the right thing and not allowing anti-LGBT+ hate groups to hire state venues.
To have the most impact we need to send letters that are unique. Our community will be most powerful if the government can point to hundreds of unique emails from supporters, stating their support for not allowing LGBT hate groups to endanger our community.
With this decision the WA government has set a powerful precedent for the protection of LGBT rights that all states should follow. We can’t allow hate groups like the ACL to pressure the government to take a backwards step.
We know from past campaigns that the ACL will mobilise it’s supporters in the next few days to make calls and send emails to the venue and minister, pressuring them to change their decision. We cannot let a noisy, hate-fuelled minority be allowed to endanger our community.

Who is Australian Christian Lobby?
The Australian Christian Lobby is an anti-LGBT+ hate group. They were one of the main campaigning organisations running the ‘No’ campaign in the fight for marriage equality, and spearheaded the campaign to abolish the anti-bullying program ‘Safe Schools’.
The ACL is not a representative organisation, nor is it a peak body of churches. It is a campaigning group for the extreme far-right movement in Australia.
The ACL are a hate group in the sense that they advocate ideas that are actively dangerous to the LGBT+ community. Some examples are supporting of gay and transgender conversion practices [which the UN defines as torture], spreading the idea that ‘trans-ideology’ is a conspiracy by the global elite, and in NSW campaigning for the right of schools be able to fire teachers who engage in topics surrounding the existence of transgender people.
The ACL explicitly seeks to undermine the civil rights of LGBT+ people. Just like how states would not hire a venue out to a group actively promoting religious hate, misogyny, or white supremacy, they should not hire their venues out to an anti-LGBT+ hate group. To do so puts our community, our friends and families at risk.
