Take Action for Community Action: Share Your Story 2025

Community Action Programs play a vital role in addressing the needs of our most vulnerable residents across the country. These programs include senior support services, Head Start, energy assistance programs, weatherization services, housing supports, and more. Through their work, these programs help families move from crisis to stability, ultimately fostering self-sufficiency and independence. These services are essential not only for the well-being of individuals but also for the economic and social vitality of our communities.

Despite the importance of Community Action Programs to millions of Americans, they are currently under funding review as the government evaluates budget priorities.

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is fundamental to our operations, providing us with the flexibility and local decision-making we need to prevent poverty and address unique local needs. A delay in these funds would have serious impacts on our core functions and the programs we can offer. We’re increasingly concerned about the local impact if Congress doesn’t reopen. We encourage you as constituents to reach out to your representatives and senators at the federal level to share your experiences with Community Action Programs.
