Take Action for Community Action: Share Your Story 2026

President Trump's newly published proposed budget for fiscal year 2027 suggests eliminating the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), the funding that is the backbone of Community Action Agencies serving communities in all 92 counties in Indiana.

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is fundamental to Community Action Agency operations, providing the flexibility and local decision-making needed to prevent poverty and address unique local needs. Community Action Agencies provide senior support services, Head Start, energy assistance programs, weatherization services, housing supports, and more. Through their work, these programs help families move from crisis to stability, ultimately fostering self-sufficiency and independence. These services are essential not only for the well-being of individuals but also for the economic and social vitality of our communities. We encourage you as constituents to reach out to your representatives and senators at the federal level to share your experiences with Community Action Agencies and their programs.
