TAKE ACTION: Stop Michigan's Wolf Hunt Bill (HB 6008)

Michigan House Bill 6008 would require the state to establish a gray wolf hunting season in the Upper Peninsula within 90 days if federal Endangered Species Act protections are removed.

Wolves in Michigan have exceeded recovery goals for decades and remain a vital part of healthy ecosystems. Yet this bill would automatically mandate a wolf hunt the moment federal protections are lifted, regardless of whether a hunt is scientifically justified.

Recovery should not be treated as a trigger for renewed persecution. Conservation success should be celebrated through science-based wildlife management and long-term coexistence, not politically mandated hunting seasons.

Gray wolves help maintain ecological balance and are an important part of Michigan's natural heritage. Decisions about their future should be guided by science, ecosystem health, and public input.

By contacting lawmakers, you can help oppose HB 6008 and support a future where wolves remain protected and valued as an essential part of Michigan's wild landscapes.
