📢 TAKE ACTION: Tell ATL City Council to Say No to New Jails
Right now, the Trump administration is implementing a massive expansion of the Prison Industrial Complex through immigrant ICE prisons. In Georgia, two new ICE detention prisons have been proposed, one in Social Circle and another in Oakwood. The mega detention center in Social Circle will add 8,500 new “beds” by converting a warehouse designed to store merchandise into a makeshift gulag. The processing site of Oakwood will be a fast-paced model which will commodify human life and expedite deportations. These two sites alone increase the number of people ICE can hold captive by over 10,000.
The detention prisons will be paid for by our tax dollars, and will drain the communities’ resources. Help us organize and fight back against the acquisition of new ICE detention centers in Georgia, and stand against the warehousing of human beings. We will not sit by as our neighbors are abducted in the street. We will not allow for our neighbors to be dehumanized and abused in ICE prisons.
