Take Action: Tell your PA senators that PA needs cyber charter reform this year!!
Budget negotiations in Harrisburg are ongoing and it is unclear that the PA Senate will support cyber charter funding reforms.
This is an all hands on deck moment.
The evidence that cyber charters are awash in excess funding that they waste and hoard is in plain sight.
PA lawmakers know about the $600 million that five cyber charters have packed into bank accounts and millions that they waste every year on advertising, parties, and more.
Lawmakers also know that their local school boards are raising property taxes to pay cyber charter tuition bills that far exceed the cost of educating a student on a computer.
The PA House has approved an $8000 flat tuition rate for cyber charter students and Governor Shapiro has included this flat tuition rate in his budget proposal.
It is time for the PA Senate to stand up for the students and communities they represent and support cyber charter funding and accountability reforms as part of the state budget this year.
We cannot afford another year of inaction.
