Take Action Today to Prevent Evictions!

Please contact your State Senator, and State Representative and urge them to immediately pass the COVID-19 Housing Equity Bill!

Access to stable housing is a public health issue, particularly during the ongoing pandemic. That is why we are advocating for the COVID-19 Housing Equity Bill, H1434 / S891 which will establish stronger eviction prevention measures in Massachusetts.

Since the end of the State eviction moratorium, over 19,000 new eviction cases have been filed and over 4,000 court orders for removal have been issued to landlords. When the federal eviction moratorium expires in October, Massachusetts will be at even further risk of eviction, housing insecurity, and homelessness. We need urgent and meaningful legislative action to address this crisis.

The COVID-19 Housing Equity bill will pause no-fault evictions, protect tenants who are unable to pay rent due to COVID-19, ensure households are able to access rental assistance, and protect vulnerable homeowners from foreclosure.

The legislature must pass the COVID-19 Housing Equity Bill as soon as possible to keep vulnerable Massachusetts residents in their homes.
