The Alabama Senate has passed SB24 & now the bill heads to the House of Representatives!

SB24 INCREASES ACCESS TO VOTING RIGHTS RESTORATION AND REDUCES BUREAUCRATIC BARRIERS

Currently:

• The restoration process can be confusing
• Information is not always easy to find
• Eligible individuals may remain disenfranchised simply due to lack of guidance

SB24 requires:

• Clear website instructions
• An accessible online application
• Notification when rights are restored
• Coordination between agencies

This reduces unintentional disenfranchisement.

• It does NOT automatically restore rights to individuals who do not qualify
• It does NOT eliminate existing eligibility requirements
• It does NOT bypass review by the Board of Pardons and Paroles
• It simply ensures eligible individuals can access the process.
