Tell Alabama Representatives: Say Yes to SB 24
The Alabama Senate has passed SB24 & now the bill heads to the House of Representatives!
SB24 INCREASES ACCESS TO VOTING RIGHTS RESTORATION AND REDUCES BUREAUCRATIC BARRIERS
Currently:
- The restoration process can be confusing
- Information is not always easy to find
- Eligible individuals may remain disenfranchised simply due to lack of guidance
SB24 requires:
- Clear website instructions
- An accessible online application
- Notification when rights are restored
- Coordination between agencies
This reduces unintentional disenfranchisement.
WHAT SB24 DOES NOT DO:
- It does NOT automatically restore rights to individuals who do not qualify
- It does NOT eliminate existing eligibility requirements
- It does NOT bypass review by the Board of Pardons and Paroles
- It simply ensures eligible individuals can access the process.
