Tell Buttigieg: Stop This Mega-Polluting Oil Export Project While You Still Can!
To seal the Biden Administration’s climate legacy and uphold their promise to stand against environmental racism, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg must stop the Texas GulfLink oil export project from being built.
Texas GulfLink could be the largest offshore oil export terminal in the United States, pumping an additional 1 million barrels of crude oil every day to buyers overseas. The project is projected to add an additional 100 million tons of greenhouse gasses per year, pushing the world further into climate catastrophe at a time when we desperately need to phase out fossil fuels to avoid even more devastating climate disasters.
The incoming Trump Administration promises to rollback environmental protections and boost the oil and gas industry. This project is the last chance for President Biden to secure his climate legacy and prevent Trump from inheriting oversight over this dangerous, climate-polluting project.
Like the many new oil and gas projects that frontline communities and their allies are speaking out against, this one facility could tank President Biden’s progress on climate action and environmental justice from the past four years.
Tell Secretary Buttigieg to direct his Maritime Administration to deny the license for Texas GulfLink!
