We need YOU to tell the Seattle City Council to vote YES on Shield Seattle to defend our city against threats to our local food system.

The members of the Meals Partnership Coalition (MPC) are the frontline of defense against hunger in Seattle. MPC members produce more than 4,000,000 meals every year to ensure everyone in Seattle has access to a nutritionally dense, culturally uplifting meal.

Our mission is being threatened. The Federal government recently passed a budget that will take food away from tens of thousands of Seattle residents. This comes on top of a $240M revenue shortfall in the City of Seattle budget. If our elected leaders don't act now to raise additional revenue, MPC members will experience deep budget cuts and be forced to scale back services at a time of increasing need.

The Shield Seattle Initiative aims to address this by raising $90 Million per year for housing, food and other critical human services. This proposal will lower the Business & Occupation (B&O) Tax for most businesses while increasing the rate for only the largest companies. Over 90% of businesses in Seattle will benefit from a lower tax rate thanks to this proposal.
