The administration plans to open this facility sometime in August, overlapping with the administration’s decision to strip unaccompanied children of meaningful access to legal counsel, putting tens of thousands of children at immediate risk. LaSalle Corrections has a long history of medical negligence and abuse resulting in deaths, including two of the most recent fatalities in ICE custody at the Winn Correctional Center in Winnfield, LA, which will only continue if we allow facilities like this one to operate.
