This administration is attacking programs meant to protect our families and communities. The DACA program is being dismantled piece by piece by the Administration, with renewal delays costing jobs and putting thousands at risk for deportation and detention, and court decisions that make it easier to detain and deport DACA recipients. The recent Supreme Court decision on Haitian and Syrian TPS is setting the state for the largest de-legalization emergency in U.S. history with one million and a half Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders stripped of their protections.

The consequences of these mass delegalization attacks have been devastating.

Over 100,000 children –the vast majority of them U.S. citizens– have been separated from their parents and families as more and more people lose status, are detained, and rapidly deported without due process. The Department of Homeland Security’s own records reveal that federal agents have detained over 340 DACA recipients and deported at least 90 since the start of 2025.

A functioning economy needs stability, but that’s not possible when millions of working people are losing their status. Programs like DACA and TPS might be temporary, but the careers, families and lives built over decades are not. Millions of immigrants are responsible for keeping our nation functioning: taking care of patients in our rural hospitals, teaching our children in our schools, running local businesses, and building homes.

Like all working people, immigrants are being treated as disposable despite powering our cities, our country, and our economy.

But we don’t have to be in this chaos. The solution to this mass delegalization campaign exists. A pathway to citizenship would provide long-overdue stability and deliver real solutions for working people.  

Rep. Sylvia Garcia has filed a discharge petition on the full Dream and Promise Act (H.R. 1589), which would provide a pathway to citizenship for over 4.4 million immigrant young people, DACA recipients, and TPS holders. This opportunity is monumental. If 218 Members of Congress add their name to the discharge petition the Dream and Promise Act will be brought directly to the House floor for a vote.

The danger of mass delegalization is more urgent than ever. Congress has the power to ensure our families, communities, and workforces can remain intact.

We cannot stay silent as our neighbors are stripped of their status, detained and deported, and as billions of our taxpayer dollars continue to be weaponized to murder fathers, mothers, and neighbors in our streets.
