Tell Congress to Protect International Religious Freedom

The right to practice the religion of one's choice is a fundamental human right. Yet 70 percent of the world live in areas with severe restrictions on how or if people can worship. The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) is an independent, bipartisan U.S. federal government agency created by Congress in the 1998 International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA).

USCIRF monitors the universal right to freedom of religion or belief abroad, makes policy recommendations to the President, Secretary of State, and Congress, and tracks the implementation of these recommendations.

On September 13, 2024, the U.S. Senate passed the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom Act of 2024 (S. 3764). Now we need the House to pass "The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom Act of 2024 (H.R.7025)" before September 30, 2024 when the current authorization expires.

Reauthorizing the USCIRF is not only a matter of principle but also a meaningful step towards fulfilling our nation’s promise to uphold the fundamental human right of freedom to worship.

Please let your U.S. representative know you want them to cosponsor and support this crucial legislation.
