Tell Congress to Stop the Weaponization of the IRS
The Trump White House is turning the IRS into a political weapon — targeting liberal nonprofits, major Democratic donors, and critics of the administration. Reports from The Wall Street Journal, NBC News, and The Guardian reveal plans to overhaul the agency, install loyalists, weaken oversight, and fast-track audits of left-leaning groups.
After the death of Charlie Kirk, Vice President J.D. Vance called for using federal agencies — including the IRS — to “identify, disrupt, and destroy” what he labeled “left-wing extremism.” Soon after, the White House reportedly began drafting plans to revoke tax-exempt status and investigate figures like George Soros and his foundations.
This is not tax enforcement — it’s political retribution. The IRS must never be used to intimidate dissent or silence opposition. Turning government power against perceived enemies is a direct assault on democracy.
Congress must act immediately. It must open a bipartisan investigation, subpoena internal documents, and pass laws preventing political interference in tax enforcement.
Tell Congress: Investigate the weaponization of the IRS.
